Your trail briefing - FAQs
Before you set off on your Boscastle adventure, here’s everything you might want to know.
What should I bring with me?
- A printed copy of the trail
- A pen or pencil
- Good footwear (the village has cobbled and uneven paths)
- A sense of adventure!
Is the trail suitable for pushchairs, wheelchairs, or people with mobility challenges?
Some parts of the trail involve steep hills, uneven paths, cobbles, and coastal footpaths.
The main car park, harbour area and streets are more accessible, but sections towards the coastal footpath and Forrabury Church may be challenging for wheelchairs, mobility scooters, or pushchairs.
There is no need to complete the entire trail in one go — feel free to explore at your own pace, taking breaks or tackling different sections separately.
Is the trail suitable for young children?
Yes, children are welcome! The trail is designed to be family-friendly and some clues will be accessible for them with prompts from adults. However, children must be supervised at all times, especially near roads, coastal paths, and the harbour.
Do I need a smartphone or an app?
The trail is designed to be printed out and followed on foot. However, there are optional online elements (such as submitting your answer or feedback) if you want to take part fully.
Can I share the trail with friends or online?
We’d love for you to recommend the trail!
But please don’t give away any answers or clues – we want everyone to have the same sense of discovery and adventure!
Can I bring my dog on the Boscastle Village Trail?
Yes, dogs are very welcome! Please keep them on a lead at all times as the trail passes near roads, livestock, and coastal paths. Don’t forget to bring water and clean up after them — and enjoy the adventure together!
